What is your curiosity profile? (HBR)

I always struggle when people ask me what my hobbies are. As a mother, an entrepreneur, and a business owner for the past 15 years, I haven’t had time to develop hobbies outside of growing the company. But I just read an article from HBR that allows you to take a curiosity profile and this is what it said about me:

People with high scores in this area typically question authority and have an independent thinking style. They regard themselves as “free spirits” and avoid following mainstream trends. They are often early adopters and trendsetters.

High scorers enjoy trying new things and interacting with a variety of personalities. They are generally disappointed when life feels predictable or familiar.

Test takers who score high on this dimension are philosophically inclined. They gravitate toward cultural hobbies and enjoy exploring a wide range of educational subjects. They typically rely on their experience and common sense to solve problems, because they prefer to spend time doing rather than ruminating.

I love that insight. I finally understand what my hobbies are. I finally have an answer for that interview question! They are cultural study and continuous learning, two things I actively pursue each day on behalf of the clients I serve—and two things I sincerely love to do more than anything.

And biking. I have to add biking in there so I don’t sound too boring…
