As a small business, does your website need a blog?

The benefit of a blog on your website for small businesses
As part of a comprehensive brand strategy, we advise small to medium size business owners on blogging and blog content on their company website. We have general recommendations that we make with tactics that vary depending on the business or product type. A blog can be a helpful component of your website as long as you are prepared to be consistent—and offer high quality, value oriented content.

A few considerations before you decide
1. Don’t add a blog to your website unless you are committed to producing consistent content.

2. If you are committed to blogging, add a blog to your website because it helps with many things, including SEO.

3. When you blog, be sure to post and share the link to your post on every social media platform you can. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

4. We recommend topics that highlight brand attributes, cultural insights, case studies that demonstrate expertise or success, and value added posts that educate or share valuable information with your readers.

A good example
While working with a concrete restoration company in SC, we recommended that they blog and complement the blog with a series of :30 second YouTube videos that provide tips on how to do quick concrete floor repairs—sharing valuable tricks of the trade and insights across both mediums. While working with Overhead Door in GA, we recommended they provide a series of blogs on how to winterize and storm-proof your home during the recent hurricane season, incorporating some of their key products and services. Then we had them share this blog link through their complementary monthly email marketing campaigns. You always want to reward your customers for stopping by and reading your content—and you want to make it easy for them to find it.
